Mala making workshop

  • KMC Vancouver 1833 Victoria Diversion Vancouver, BC, V5N 2K2 Canada (map)

Enjoy a peaceful Saturday morning with us, making your own 108-bead mala to take home with you.

A mala, like a rosary, is a string of beads used for keeping count while reciting, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra. For Buddhist practitioners, malas are revered as precious, becoming more powerful and meaningful the more they are used. Both beautiful and spiritual, people often carry their mala with them or keep it very close by.

In this workshop Colleen Neely will teach how to make your own mala. We will provide all the materials you need; you will be able to choose your own bead pack when you arrive.

You are welcome to stay on for the afternoon course on the meaning, purpose and how to recite mantras: The Magic of Mantra.

Cost
Non-members $35 plus materials

The cost of the materials will vary depending on the type of beads you choose. We will make up bead packs and you can choose and pay for them when you arrive.

$60 for both the morning and afternoon course: Mala Making Workshop and The Magic of Mantra.

Members
No charge except cost of materials
Delicious refreshments will be served during the morning.

About the Teacher

Colleen Neely has been a sincere practitioner at KMC Vancouver for many years and is well loved for her kindness and joyful good humour. She particularly loves anything to do with Buddhist arts and crafts. A few years ago she underwent a six month intensive training at Manjushri KMC in the UK learning all the stages of making Buddha statues. We are very fortunate to have such a qualified teacher leading this mala making workshop.
